Accessibility statement

We build the accessibility in rather than bolting a widget on top of it. Here is exactly what that means, and what it does not.

What the panel does

Text size
Default, Large and Larger. The control scales the whole type system rather than one element, so headings, labels and body text keep their relationship to each other.
High contrast
Raises the contrast of body text, rules and surfaces, and removes shadows that soften edges.
Reduce motion
Turns off the reveal animations. The site also honours your operating system’s own reduced-motion setting without you touching anything here.
Warm page tone
Swaps the page ground for a warmer, lower-glare tone.
Reset to defaults
Puts everything back in one click.

Where to find it

The accessibility control sits in the header, next to Account and Cart, on every page. It is not a floating corner button - both bottom corners of the page are already spoken for, and a control that fights a chat window for the same space on a phone is not an accessible control.

Your choices are remembered in your own browser. Nothing about them is sent to us.

What this panel deliberately does not do

It changes our own styling and nothing else. It does not inject ARIA into the page, it does not move keyboard focus, and it does not rewrite tab order.

That restraint is the point. We do not use an accessibility overlay, and we are not going to. Overlays attempt automated remediation on top of markup they cannot see the intent of, and a recurring complaint from people who actually use assistive technology is that overlays interfere with the setup they have already configured for themselves. Where something on this site is wrong, we would rather fix the markup.

What we are working to

We build against WCAG 2.2 Level AA and test as we go, at a range of screen widths, with a keyboard, and by measuring contrast on the rendered page rather than trusting the palette on paper.

We have not completed a formal third-party audit, so we are not claiming full conformance. Parts of this site are new and parts are older, and we would rather tell you that than publish a badge.
